The Tavares family owned the property at Porba-Vaddo Calangute from the 1700s. However, there are no records to indicate the year the house was built.
Part of the property was gifted to the Sisters of The Franciscan Missionaries of Christ the King who have rebuilt the home and named it ‘CLARA SADAN’. As a kind gesture, the sisters have displayed the family name ‘TAVARES PLACE’ as well as placed a plaque at the entrance of the property in recognition of the gift.
At CLARA SADAN the nuns care for women in need.
